How to play
Yixing is a Mage with powerful poke and Crowd Control. The combo Skill 1 → Skill 2 → Basic Attack → Skill 1 → Basic Attack lets you chain skills together to pressure enemies.
Her Basic Attacks deal Magic Damage, and landing a skill applies a counter mark. When the mark reaches max stacks it deals damage and permanently raises her Magic Attack by 1. It also has a chance to negate lethal damage. Skill 1 places a ghost stone that deals damage and grants vision. If this ghost stone is within the range of Skill 2, it deals damage and a Slow. Skill 2 deals damage to a chosen area and spreads out as a Go formation, pulling enemies toward the center. The Ultimate creates a Go board that launches enemies up and marks them, while also trapping the enemy's area inside the board.
For leveling skills, prioritize the Ultimate first; when you can't take the Ultimate, prioritize Skill 1.
Advanced tips
When playing Yixing, it's common to feel like your Crowd Control or damage isn't landing, or that you can't survive. Crowd Control failing to land comes from how you use Skill 2 and the Ultimate—use these two in succession. Lack of damage comes from leaning too much on skill damage and not making enough use of your empowered Basic Attacks; the trick is to land your skills in the same area to put out sustained area damage. Dying easily comes from not making use of the Passive—understanding the timing of your counter and Passive raises your survivability.
Yixing's damage is built around using Skill 2 and Skill 1 in succession and triggering the Passive with empowered Basic Attacks to deal area damage. The Ultimate is mainly used to engage, while Skill 2 keeps enemies pinned. The Passive's negation lets you extend how long you can stay on the battlefield. Every time Skill 1 hits an enemy, Skill 2's cooldown is reduced, so when Skill 2 is on cooldown, use Skill 1 frequently to bring Skill 2 back faster. Many heroes can't escape the Ultimate's range, and using walls lets you restrict enemy movement even further. Using the Ultimate directly while you have an enemy Immobilized with Skill 2 lets you trap them for sure. Going Ultimate → Skill 2 in that order also works, pinning the enemy down before the Ultimate's pieces are placed.
In the early game, Skill 2's lane clear is strong, so choose side support or jungle, build an advantage while stacking the Passive's damage buff early. In the mid game, team fights increase, so carefully control the timing and position of the Ultimate, ambush from bushes, or coordinate with your team to fully control enemies with the Ultimate. In the late game, when the enemy is pushing, trap them under the tower with the Ultimate and counterattack with your team; when you're pushing, cover the enemy tower with the Ultimate and quickly close out the game with your team.
The combo to increase damage is: stack ghost stones with Skill 1, and when an enemy enters the area, control them with Skill 2 → Skill 1 to reset Skill 2's cooldown while landing an empowered Basic Attack → Basic Attack for extra damage. The combo to keep an enemy locked down is: right after the Ultimate, apply stable Crowd Control with Skill 2, then use the Skill 1 → Basic Attack combo to maximize damage together with your team. Sealing their movement with the Ultimate and Immobilizing with Skill 2 makes them easy to finish. When the enemy is far away, close the distance with Flash, then control them multiple times with Skill 2 and the Ultimate.
Pairing with heroes who cover a wide area, like Lu Bu or Marco Polo, lets you take advantage of Yixing's Ultimate Crowd Control to deal high damage. Pairing with Crowd Control holders like Lian Po or Guiguzi lets Yixing lock down enemies reliably. On the other hand, against enemies with strong dashes like Jing or Luna, Yixing has no movement skill and so struggles to escape. Against enemies with large Ultimate Crowd Control and range like Zhang Fei, you tend to come face to face quickly and take a lot of attacks.
Skills (level values & ratios)
Passive: Maintaining Initiative:Basic attacks deal Magic Damage. When any skill hits an enemy, it stacks 1 Mark of Qi. At 4 stacks, a go stone is generated at the enemy's feet, dealing 100 (100 + 10% of Magic ATK) Magic Damage and granting 1 go stone indefinitely. Defeats/assists and every 60 seconds grant 3. Each one adds 1. Those pulled in by the mark are drawn to the center of the board, and enemies on the line take 170 (170 + 11% of Magic ATK) Magic Damage.
When taking fatal damage, he enters a weakened state, generating a go stone at his feet, nullifying all damage for 1 second, and increasing Move Speed by 30%. This effect has a 150-second cooldown.
When a go stone from qi removal is affected by intelligence value, the damage dealt is converted to 50%. Base Damage 100〜184 / Base Damage 170〜310
Skill 1: Sliding Stones:Lays a go stone at a designated position. Gains vision around the go stone for 3 seconds. Deals 100 (100 + 18% of Magic ATK) Magic Damage. Additionally, the cooldown of "Taking Liberties" is reduced by 0.5 seconds. The go stone lasts 12 seconds. Go stones within the board of "Taking Liberties" are drawn to the center, dealing 180 (180 + 36% of Magic ATK) Magic Damage to enemies hit and reducing their Move Speed by 25% for 1 second. When a go stone hits an enemy, it enhances his next basic attack, dealing 223 (120 + 60% of Magic ATK + 18% of Magic ATK) Magic Damage.
When the number of go stones reaches 50/110/181, tapping the extra skill evolves the enhanced basic attack while dramatically increasing Move Speed for 5 seconds. The evolved enhanced basic attacks respectively gain armor break / 17% increased damage / 34% increased damage effects.
Go stones stack 1 every 16 seconds, up to 2. If a go stone drawn to the board of "Taking Liberties" hits the same enemy consecutively within 0.5 seconds, the damage from the second onward is reduced to 50% and the special effect of the enhanced basic attack is reduced to 30%. CD (s) 1.5→1.1 / MP Cost 30
Skill 2: Taking Liberties:Deals 160 (160 + 25% of Magic ATK) Magic Damage in a designated area. Forms a board lasting 10 seconds. At the same time, pulls enemies in the central area a certain distance toward the board's center, dealing an additional 160 (160 + 25% of Magic ATK) Magic Damage.
When an enemy hero or he himself passes through the board's lines, it applies the Qi Removal mark and increases Move Speed by 50% for 1 second (decaying over time). Recasting makes the board disappear.
This skill deals 180% increased damage to non-hero units. CD (s) 10→8 / Base Damage 160→320 / MP Cost 55
Ultimate: The World is My Board:Draws a void go board with his own position as one corner. After 1.5 seconds, the board fully appears, knocking up enemies in range for 0.5 seconds. The board lasts 4 seconds, during which enemies within it cannot leave. The board applies a persistent mark to enemy heroes, stacking 3 times, while also gaining vision. When capturing an enemy hero, it stacks "Sliding Stones" 12 times.
The smaller the board's area, the shorter the CD (up to 25%). While the board is present, his Move Speed increases by 50%-70% (decaying over time). CD (s) 60→55 / Move Speed Up 30%→70% / MP Cost 60
Yixing — Early / Mid / Late Game
Early game: Early on there are few stones on the board, so a single stone deals weak damage and only pressures enemy positioning. You need to use Skill 1 and Skill 2 together to trap the enemy between two stones, so level up Skill 1 and Skill 2 first and gradually deal damage through the early game.
Mid game: The more stones on the field, the less room enemies have to escape, and the threat of the stones changes in quality. In the mid game, scatter stones to bind the enemy's movement, then stack the black-and-white marks to finish them with burst and Slow.
Late game: The Ultimate unfolds a giant Go board, generating six stones on the field. It Stuns when it completes after 2 seconds, and once complete it becomes a powerful area Crowd Control that traps enemies inside with no escape. In team fights, use the stone placement to lock enemies inside the board and quickly take them out of the fight.
